Avernum: Escape from the Pit is a single-player RPG developed by Spiderweb Software. It is the first in the remade Avernum First Trilogy, the second of which is Exile: The Templars. The original, released in 1995, was a popular RPG, but it did not hold up well over time. Avernum: The Templars follows in the footsteps of its predecessor and features many new features.

Avernum: Escape from the Pit is an action-oriented adventure game that offers a number of difficulty levels. It also has a medal system similar to Avadon, but it lacks the extensive content of Avadon. Although Avernum: The Templars is a single-player role-playing game, you can play it as a multiplayer, which will require the use of a controller.
